The Environment War II veteran designed his Odessa dwelling in 1951 and wanted to add some color to the residence. He found azaleas whilst traveling.
“I experienced a very well-drilling business enterprise, and I worked around the place,” he explained. “I noticed these bushes in distinctive places and I liked them.”
By the time he and his wife, Helen, married in 1976, he had 85 azaleas.
“She fell in really like with the few I experienced and wished much more,” he said.
Now their Corbit Avenue two-acre lawn in Odessa has a person of the greatest collections of azaleas all over — more than 1,700 shrubs. Just about every spring, it attracts site visitors from all about the region to check out the vibrant blooming bouquets.
